What is Integrative Therapy?
Integrative therapy is an approach to healing that acknowledges there is no one way to heal. It takes a stance of humility that says there is no one set of wisdom that healing follows, no one way to mend the ruptures in our bones and breath. It is holistic in a sense that it celebrates the way our body, mind and emotions are all connected and is curious about the relationships beyond the individual - the collective ways we heal through the land, through shared rituals, through physical space, through movements and more.
What this means for our work is that I am trained in a. wide variety of approaches to healing and may draw on different modalities in one session - from cognitive behavior to radical acceptance practices, from emotionally focused sessions to incorporating somatics via sensorimotor psychotherapy explorations. I may incorporate some expressive therapies with some clients, may take on a role of a coach with some or dive into movement experiments with others. Whatever modality I am engaging with at the moment, I will often introduce to you what “intervention” I am bringing forth and ask for consent to explore together. I value collaboration and I do not take the role of an expert in the therapeutic space. Instead, you can think of me as a compassionate witness first, and then a curious guide second, who is holding space for your inquiries, feelings and sensations so you can process them, play with them and alchemize them in ways that feel right to you.
